If the longevity of a festival says anything about the community that hosts it, then the Honey Creek Festival benefitting St. Joseph’s Catholic Church speaks volumes! Marking over 50 years of community gatherings, the friends of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Spring Branch, wish to welcome all to enjoy what Sunday afternoons are all about – food, fun and community.
German and Hispanic Heritage both have a feature at this festival. Whether or not coincidence that Honey Creek Festival falls within the same month both cultures get a spotlight (Oktoberfest and Hispanic Heritage Month)— you can be certain to find both beer and margarita booths to whet your cultural appetite. Booths offering Tex-Mex favorites will be on site—as well as an authentic German meal of pot roast, fried chicken, German potato salad, sauerkraut and green beans. Take time to enjoy this authentic dish with both dine-in or take-out options available.
Appetites run the full gamut of flavors—and festivals can be a great place to sample foods you may not have otherwise tried. Take sauerkraut. A fermented food that’s been around for 2,000 years (well the idea of it, not the food. I do enjoy preserved foods, but 2,000 years may be a bit too long as shelf lives go) is attributed to the Chinese. Sauerkraut made its food migration to Germany—and luckily for festival goers—to Spring Branch, TX.
If your hankering is more inclined towards the retail fare, then Honey Creek Festival will surely delight. Booths featuring home baked goods, a handmade arts and crafts Country Store, and rummage sale will be happening throughout the day. Festivals offer the best opportunities to find one-of-a-kind treasures for you or those on your Christmas shopping list.
Bring your whole family to this historic, cultural festival with fun and festivities for all.
